Dr Migiro nominated MP


President Jakaya Kikwete has nominated Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro Member of Parliament.
According to a State House statement circulated to the media yesterday, the appointment is with effect from Monday December 02, this year.

Currently, Migiro is CCM’s National Executive Committee Secretary for Political Affairs and International Relations. Dr. Migiro was the first African woman to hold the post of United Nations Deputy Secretary General.


This nomination leaves only two to the list of MPs that the president has mandate to nominate for a parliament seat.

The president is mandate to nominate a total of ten persons for MP seats. The earlier appointed MPs are; Zakia Meghji, Eng James Mbatia (NCCR-National Chairman), Shamsi Vuai Nahodha (Defense and National Service Minister) and Prof Makame Mbarawa (Minister for Communication Science and Technology.

Others are Energy and Minerals Minister Prof Sospeter Muhongo, and Deputy Finance Ministers Janet Mbene and Saada Mkuya Salum.

Meanwhile, President Kikwete has also appointed Commissioner of Police (CP), Isaya Mungulu to be the New Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Mungulu was acting the same position after Robert
