Suspicious object feared bomb retrieved from church vicinity


An object feared to be a bomb has been retrieved from the vicinity of a church and police in collaboration with explosive experts are investigating.

The suspected object was discovered near a church early Monday morning by a young child, Standard two Mji Mpya Primary school pupil, Emmanuel Stanley, in the bushes where he was playing. 


Morogoro Acting Police Commander, John Laswai, told a news conference yesterday that the object was found ‘around 10:00 hours Monday morning.’ 

The Acting Police Commander said the suspected object has the length of 20 centimeters and width of 5 centimeters.

He said there is no need for speculation and panic as the police in collaboration with various explosive experts are investigating to establish it identity and to lay rest to fears that the object is really a bomb. However, he called on members of the public to report any suspicious objects wherever they find them. 

He warned against tampering with the ‘suspicious objects’ cautioning that if it is an explosive meddling
